Alabama Emerald Coast Conference of the Global Methodist Church – Conference Superintendent

Rev. Dr. Lester Spencer is the Conference Superintendent of the Alabama Emerald Coast Conference of the Global Methodist Church. He has served as our President Pro Tem/ Conference Superintendent since our launch on May 7, 2023. Lester is a fourth generation Methodist Pastor in the bounds of our conference and has served in ministry for over 40 years in Alabama and the Pan Handle of Florida. He has enjoyed traversing and speaking throughout the AEC Conference, and has traveled extensively around the world on mission efforts.

Dr. Spencer served as the Lead Pastor at Saint James Church in Montgomery for over 25 years where he led the church to relocate and build a new campus on 60 acres of land in Pike Road, Alabama. He has also served for five years as the Senior Pastor at Gulf Breeze UMC in Gulf Breeze, Florida. Lester served as an Associate Pastor at Auburn Methodist for six years. He has an undergraduate degree from Auburn University and holds Masters of Divinity and Doctor of Ministry degrees from Candler School of Theology, Emory University.

Lester is married to Rev Janeese Spencer who is an ordained Elder in the GMC and is the Founder and CEO of Venture Life Coaching. Lester and Janeese have been married for over 35 years and have three married children. They love to travel, sail and teach as they seek to learn more about the Bible, history and life. His newest book, Free For All, about John Wesley’s perceptions of grace, was released in December 2019 and is an Amazon Best Seller.
